Chelsea have explained that Petr Cech’s new career in ice hockey, will not affect his role at the club.
In an official statement, the Blues clarified that he will only play for the Guildford Phoenix, when his schedule allows him to.
Cech announced on Wednesday, that he would be swapping football boots for ice skates and lining up in goal for the Phoenix, with his debut coming on Sunday.
But Cech has already taken up a role as technical and performance advisor at Chelsea since retiring from football.
Cech will play as goalie for Guildford Phoenix, which is located close to where he lives.
When his Chelsea Football Club schedule allows, he is ready to help them in their league games, Chelsea explained on their website.
